I’m sandra – Austinite, photographer, recovering politico, road tripper, history geek and National Park Sites lover.
Having spent 20 years in politics took a toll on my mind and soul, and I didn’t have an outlet to explore and understand our country.
Then several years ago, a friend talked me into going with her to Gettysburg National Military Park and Antietam National Battlefield, and I’ve been hooked on exploring our National Parks ever since (I’m now up to 159 visited sites, with more planned soon.) I love learning about the history of our country, seeing first hand its creations, destruction, evolution and progress.
My goal here is to share what I see and what I learn – you may not have the ability to get to all 417 National Park Sites. In the process, I’d like to show and tell each of their stories and why you should go (or at least learn more!)
Some of the online sites which have highlighted my photography include National Park Geek, Western National Parks Association, IGers Big Cypress, National Park Life, Hashtag_59 Travel, #WhyIHeartTheParks, and Protecting Parks; I've recently been named a SuperFan Ambassador for Olympus Cameras.
I hope you’ll stay and follow my adventures on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and my blog. Feel free to drop me a line about the content, if you’d like to collaborate, or just to chat NPS.
